The winery of Ricardo Abal Padín was founded in 200, backed by the Rias Baixas Regulatory Board.
This is a family business in the Salnés valley, specifically in Vilariño. It began by making just 5,000 litres of Albariño wine in stainless steel tanks.
Initially, the grapes came from the plots belonging to the owner of the winery - about two hectares. Over the years, however, it has become necessary to buy grapes from several growers in order to meet market demand, since currently around 30,000 litres are made. As a result of this growth, more modern and efficient machinery has been bought, especially for the harvesting and bottling stages.
This small company started by selling a single product, called “LAGAR DA CACHADA”, a reference to the area where it is made. In 2013 a new product was launched, called “DON RICARDO” in honour of the owner's grandfather, who founded the company.
The labels of both these wines both show a dragon, symbolising unity and working together as a family.
We are currently considering extending our range by adding more innovative products.
